Venture Innovation Fund

The SUTD Venture Innovation Fund co-invests in pre-seed and seed-stage start-ups that demonstrate high potential. These start-ups should be led by SUTD alumni, students, faculty and teams who have attended SUTD entrepreneurship programs.

  • VIF provides start-ups with investment support and potential co-investments:

    • Co-investments in SUTD-affiliated start-ups

    • Investor introductions

    • Advice on considerations when fundraising, including:

      • Documents that are required by Investors

      • Valuation practices used by the industry

      • Frequently used legal terms

      • Questions that Investors typically ask

    • Startups should have at least one founder who is SUTD related - student, alumni, researcher or faculty member

    • Startups should have other investors who are prepared to lead the round

  • Applications are open year-round! We provide investment support to start-ups who are looking to fundraise.

    Interested applicants should write to enterpreneurship@sutd.edu.sg and state that they are applying for the SUTD Venture Innovation Fund. We will get in touch with you.

  • We are interested to find out more about you and your start-up. Come and speak to us at entrepreneurship@sutd.edu.sg.

  • Startups should not have a proposed business idea that falls under the list provided below

    • Cafes, restaurants, night clubs, lounges, bars, foot reflexology, massage parlours, gambling, prostitution, social escort services, employment agencies (including recruiting foreign work permit holders and workers/support staff, relocation services, and manpower services), and geomancy.

  • We invest in start-ups from the pre-seed stage all the way to Series rounds. If your startup is at a stage that is ready to scale beyond proof of concept and requires external funding to do so, do come and talk to us at entrepreneurship@sutd.edu.sg.

  • Anytime from the point when your startup is deciding or not whether or not to fundraise, feel free to reach out to us at entrepreneurship@sutd.edu.sg!

  • The investment amount depends on several considerations including the amount that the start-up is looking to raise, the stage of development of the start-up and the start-up potential.

  • We will be interested in your plans, markets, competitors and financial forecasts. To expedite discussion, you can share with us your start-up's information through your data room.

  • No two start-ups are the same, the investment terms vary with each start-up. You can speak us to learn more.

  • As our portfolio company, we aim to help you succeed. You will get priority to our range of incubation support from mentors, industry experts, venture partners, networking opportunities and introductions to potential investors.
